MTs Ed Loh Discusses McLaren P1 Supercar 12C in New Automaker Video

MT’s Ed Loh Discusses McLaren P1 Supercar, 12C in New Automaker Video Editor-in-chief Ed Loh is usually the one asking questions of automakers, but the folks at McLaren decided to switch roles at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The automaker filmed the exchange in the video below and features Loh’s thoughts on McLaren and its lineup of supercars.

The 12C, for example, is still relatively new, but McLaren has already tweaked the supercar, which Loh says is impressive for such a small company. The ability to make changes so quickly should be the “envy of larger bigger manufacturers.”  As we previously reported in our first drive of the 2013 McLaren 12C Spider, both the hardtop and open-air variants boast improvement in NVH and in-cabin tech.

Finally, Loh discusses one of the biggest stars at Geneva, the McLaren P1. This was the first time Loh had seen the P1 in person, and he said the supercar was simply stunning, especially its rear end, which is packed with an adjustable rear wing and massive diffusers. McLaren’s newest supercar features a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a combined system rating of 903 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The automaker says the P1 will run from 0-62 mph in under three seconds and should rocket to 186 mph in just 17 seconds.
